On Tuesday, July 1, 2025, Letara Ltd (Head Office: Sapporo, Hokkaido, Japan; Representatives: Shota Hirai and Landon Kamps) conducted a successful engine firing test of its hybrid rocket engine at its test facility in Akabira, Hokkaido together with Innovative Space Carrier (headquartered in Chuo-ku, Tokyo; Kojiro Hatada, President; hereinafter referred to as “ISC”). The test confirmed two major performance goals: a sustained 7-second burn and thrust output of 5000 newtons.

June 6, 2025 – Sapporo, Japan — Letara Inc. (Headquarters: Sapporo, Hokkaido; Co-CEOs: Shota Hirai and Landon Kamps) has announced that it has raised additional capital through a funding round led by the venture fund Frontier Innovations No.1 Investment Limited Partnership, operated by Frontier Innovations Inc. (Headquarters: Chuo-ku, Tokyo; CEO: Tatsuhiko Nishimura). Including earlier investments from Incubate Fund, ANA Airlines, and others, Letara’s total seed round funding has reached ¥800 million, bringing its cumulative total raised to ¥1.8 billion.

Targeting the world’s first hybrid rocket to reach space by 2028

Letara Ltd., a startup specializing in the development and manufacturing of spacecraft propulsion systems using plastic as fuel to achieve "safety, affordability, and high thrust," has been selected as a 5th batch company for the "J-Startup" program, a startup support initiative operated by the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry. Led by Co-CEOs Landon Kamps and Shota Hirai.

Letara Ltd., a startup specializing in the development and manufacturing of spacecraft propulsion systems using plastic as fuel, has secured an additional 650 million JPY in funding. Led by Co-CEOs Shota Hirai and Landon Kamps. Including grants and other funding sources, Letara has raised a cumulative 1.8 billion JPY. The new funding will support further development and accelerate preparations for an in-orbit demonstration.

Letara is officially designated as a "Muroran Institute of Technology Venture" on 14th January 2025.
